The plan for the moment is this:

Mid-week pickup:  Tuesdays 5:45pm at the PDC (2301 North Vassault)
Mid-week Goaltimate:  Thursdays 5:45pm Optimist Park (1330 N James St.)

Last week we had ~20 people show up for pickup at Goodman MS in Gig Harbor.  It is like 5minutes past the bridge and easy to get to.  See below for address.  2:30pm start.  Thanks, Erik, for setting it up.

Mondays & Wednesdays

For the time being, we are pretty much tied up with Monday night league and Wednesday night indoor.

Stay tuned for pickup on Saturdays in mid-February.  Our local mixed team will likely be practicing and then playing some pickup on Saturdays.

Saturday pickup - 'cross the bridge

Due to apparent apathy at the moment (and also busy stuff going on), we are NOT planning on pickup in Tacoma this Saturday. 

Luckily for those interested, the is another close-by alternative:

There is gonna be ultimate this Saturday out at Mullinex Elementary at 3pm in Gig Harbor.  Erik P. is organizing it.

Saturdays....er...umm...

So...with Indoor on Wednesday, and the new Monday night outdoor league at Curtis starting soon, Saturdays likely will be scarce.  I've heard some folks might be down for some Goaltimate.  Regardless, with Saturday's NFL playoff games starting at 1:30pm I kinda think pickup is dead this week, and possibly for a month or so (until after the Monday night league).

So, check out discnw.org for the Tacoma Winter League sign up info, and do just that.  Sign up.

New Tacoma Leauge: Mondays 8-10pm // Other news

Hey, everyone, Josh F. is planning a new, four-team winter hat league this year that will run from January 31-March 28 on Monday nights. Games will be from 8-10 at Curtis High School stadium in University Place on really nice turf fields. It's only $25, as we got a good deal on the fields, but the number of players will be very limited, so sign up soon if you're interested.

Other than that, we have the Indoor League running on Wednesdays, and pickup on Saturday at 2:30pm.

January 8th: No pickup! (Indoor pickup on the 5th)

Don't bother.  There is a tournament in Seattle that many folks are playing at.  Don't bother coming out Saturday. 

Come out to Wednesday night indoor pickup, though, on Wednesday the 5th at Truman.  6:30pm - 8:30ish(?)

New Year's Day Ultimate

This is the way to start the new year, and work off a bit of the hangover (if you are 21+ and partake in that sort of thing).

We will have a great afternoon of ultimate.  Start time to be officially announced later, but plan on something like 2pm at Mason.

December 18th - Field Change

Due to the bad condition of Jefferson Elementary's field, folks have proposed we change it up.

Here is the current plan:

There are 3 sites that are all within 1/2 mile or so.  So, first choice will be at Mason Middle school (N. 28th and Proctor).  It is turf, and likely scheduled with rugrats playing soccer.  So, if that is not available, head to Wilson (N. 11th and Orchard).  There are lots of fields there for football and soccer, and hopefully we can find a decent spot. 

Pickup is definitely "on" for the 18th.

December 18th and December 23rd

December 18th pickup should be a "go".  Hope you all decide to forget about being a little wet and show up and play.  2:30pm at Jefferson.

Below is a GREAT ultimate opportunity up in Kent on December 23rd, 3-5pm at Starfire.  Hopefully we can get a carload or two from Tacoma to go up and play.  Let me (Jerry) know if you are interested in carpooling.

We're going to have our first annual Christmas Ultimate game at Starfire Sports (Fort Dent) on December 23rd from 3-5pm. Starfire is extending an offer to us to combine Ultimate with a FOOD DRIVE. The FOOD DRIVE will support Tukwila Pantry (Food Bank). Food banks have been really low on food this year.


Starfire will rent the field for half price. So bring $5 to help pay for the cost of the field.

Please bring a bag or a bunch of bags, of non perishable food items and/or cash donations for the Tukwila Pantry (Food Bank). Money donations are even better since the food bank can buy what they need in bulk. $50 buys 500 meals. If you write a check, payable to Tukwila Pantry, the food bank will send you a receipt for tax purposes.

Tis the season for giving, so this donation really does help. What's a $10-$50 donation in the name of ultimate and helping the needy?

Saturday Dec. 11th

We had a great turnout last week on the 4th.  Makes me pleased to think we can continue to play in frigid windy weather.  Nice to see some new faces who will be able to join us for Saturday ultimate.

However, don't plan on any ultimate on the 11th in Tacoma.  That is the day of the Chick Flick for the ladies, and the next day, Sunday the 12th, is the men's hat tourney Dangle Wrangle up in Seattle, and it is doubtful that many of us will pull off two cold days of ultimate in a row.  You should sign up for one of these.  If you want to carpool, let me know.  Nothing beats a ride in the minivan.  Snacks included.  Maybe.

Dec. 4th

2:30pm @ Jefferson.  This is the first Saturday in a looooong time that doesn't have some sort of conflict.

Great turnout and great game today everyone.  Thanks for coming out.  Good to see old faces and some new ones. 

Tomorrow:  Likely nothing going on due to Turkey Bowl up in Seattle.

Next week Saturday?:  Plan on it--let's get Saturdays going again since Fall League is done.
